Chapter 64 · Month 35 · Starting a Family

The Long Walk

Whose name is on what, and whether it matters

Oldest line first — the newest line is at the bottom.

Penny teacher
I've been meaning to say this for a week, so: the deposit's in your name at Fennick's, and I'm the one with the savings. That's the bit I keep tripping over, not the $1,150.
Algy designer
Oh. So it's not the money, it's that the paper says me. That lands, actually — I'd noticed the booking form and hadn't once looked at whose handwriting was on it.
Penny teacher
So what do you actually want, Algy — your name alone on it, or both? Because I'll sign a form, but I'm not doing it so it looks like a favour.
Algy designer
Both, and mine second if that helps — but I want to be the one who pays the $1,150, even if it takes an invoice or two. I'm not saying it to look good; I'm saying it because it's mine to fix.

Who is being unreasonable, and who is only tired?
