The Good News

Telling her parents, then his mother

Oldest line first — the newest line is at the bottom.

Three weeks, and the test behind the Rice Krispies last time still stings, so I'm saying it badly: your mum brings that card Sunday and I open it in the hall, before Robert gets his coat off. She'll want the numbers, I want to watch her face when she sees the two invoices with my name on them.
Penny teacher
Two invoices isn't the same as a plan, and you know it. So we open the card Sunday in the hall, then we tell them together, and then your mum Sunday week.
Algy designer
Right — so Sunday is your mum and the card, and my mum is the Sunday after, which means I ring her this week and don't leave it to her hearing it secondhand. Can I say the one thing before we build the whole Sunday around it?
Penny teacher
Go on — you've got the floor for one thing, then we're ringing Susan before nine, because I'm not being the one who tells her what week it is. Say it, and be honest about the test behind the Rice Krispies too. That's twice now I've done the counting alone.
