The Bad Day

The first morning with no plan and nothing to organise

Oldest line first — the newest line is at the bottom.

The test's in the drawer, but the receipt from the chemist is stuck to the fridge next to the dog food coupon, so that's already a conversation. Also I've been awake since ten past five and I've got nothing to do with it — no rush jobs, no form, nothing.
Penny teacher
Eggs are in the pan and I'm not making a list tonight, so sit down. But that receipt's above the dog food coupon where my mum looks when she visits, so it moves to the drawer before Sunday.
Algy designer
It's moved, and I'll do the drawer thing myself so you're not the only one tidying my mistakes. Truth is I got in at six and told you the day was fine — it wasn't, I got turned down for the $350 job and just sat in the car park for twenty minutes.
Penny teacher
Right, so this morning we have no form, no plan, no rush job — I'm calling that a gift. Put the kettle on and sit with me for twenty minutes, and neither of us pretends today was fine.
