Chapter 155 · Month 57 · Starting a Family

The Good News

The first married argument, about something small

Oldest line first — the newest line is at the bottom.

Algy designer
The loo brush is still in the bag by the door, receipts and all, and I keep walking past it like it's going to say something. Can we leave the bag there till Saturday and just watch something — I'll fall asleep second, I promise.
Penny teacher
Nine days and I thought I was being patient, so we're both idiots. But what did you actually tell your mum on that call — because she rings you, not me, and I need to know what she's been told before Sunday.
Algy designer
I told her nothing — she rang about a leak in her ceiling and I said "can't talk, I'm mid-toast," which is now a thing she'll repeat at Christmas. Sunday's still ours to say, Penny. My mum gets the eight o'clock, same as your mum.
Penny teacher
Right — the bag stays by the door and Sunday's ours. And since I'm the one who'll hear about the small argument, I'll say it now: that was mine, showing off about patience. Toast's yours.
