An invoice that is ninety days late and the number nobody says out loud

Oldest line first — the newest line is at the bottom.

Penny teacher
There's a box of your mugs in front of the kettle, so this tea is coming out of the one saucepan we own. Tell me the boiler's not in that box too.
Algy designer
The boiler's fine, but the saucepan's the good one from my mum, so we're one dent from a phone call I can't afford emotionally. Write in marker what lives where on the boxes. Sofa's fine, but I'll admit something worse than the logo: I nearly said Sunday was handled just to end the conversation. That's the showing-off, and it's the exact thing that got you carrying the plan.
Penny teacher
Marker's in the tin marked pens, obviously. Give me ten minutes and I'll label the lot — kitchen's yours, bathroom's mine, permanently.
Algy designer
Right, and I'll take the bins and the bills — the bills box is currently a takeaway menu with my budget in coloured pencil on the back, which I'm choosing to call a system. Kitchen's yours, and I'll knock before I raid it.
